OnePlus Exits North American and European Markets

After thirteen years of global expansion, OnePlus is pulling its product lineup from North America and Europe. The manufacturer confirmed it will cease new hardware launches in these regions, marking a sharp pivot for the brand as it retreats to its home market in China amid broader industry instability.

The decision follows a period of mounting pressure on parent company Oppo, which has struggled with double-digit shipment declines throughout the second quarter of 2026. According to industry data from Counterpoint, OnePlus saw its U.S. market share collapse to below 1% last year, rendering the region increasingly untenable. This corporate restructuring also extends to India, one of the company's historically largest territories outside of China.

Market analysts attribute the move to the ongoing 'RAMageddon'—a severe memory chip shortage projected to drive global smartphone shipments down by over 13% this year. While OnePlus will maintain after-sales support and software updates for existing users, its days as a global 'flagship killer' are effectively over. Instead, the company intends to focus its resources on its domestic Chinese operations and utilize the Realme brand to maintain a presence in select international territories like the Nordic region, where it has historically retained a stronger foothold.
