US Strikes Force Emergency Evacuation of Pediatric Hospital in Ahvaz

A violent US military strike near Shahid Baqaei Hospital in Iran’s Khuzestan province forced the emergency evacuation of 211 children on Wednesday. Many of the patients, who were receiving chemotherapy or relying on ventilators, were caught in the intense blast wave that shattered windows and triggered widespread panic throughout the pediatric facility.

Hospital director Majid Bouadhar confirmed the mass relocation was necessary after multiple projectiles landed in the immediate surroundings of the center. Medical staff described the impact as severe, noting that the vibrations and shockwaves were so powerful they initially feared the hospital building itself had been struck.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the action as a barbaric war crime, drawing parallels to attacks on healthcare infrastructure elsewhere in the region. The strikes are part of a broader campaign by the Trump administration, which recently notified Congress of its intent to conduct defensive operations. This latest escalation arrives despite a mid-June memorandum of understanding meant to curb hostilities, as the conflict now enters its fifth month with a death toll exceeding 3,400 people. Reports indicate additional US military activity in Semnan and the port city of Bushehr, further straining civilian infrastructure across southern and western Iran.
