Einride acquires Flipturn for $38M to bolster electric trucking
Swedish autonomous trucking firm Einride is acquiring charging software startup Flipturn in an all-stock deal valued at $38 million. The move marks Einride’s first acquisition since its June Nasdaq debut, signaling a pivot toward vertical integration as the company seeks to accelerate the deployment of heavy-duty electric vehicle fleets.
CEO Roozbeh Charli described the purchase as a cornerstone of the company’s U.S. scaling strategy. Beyond its signature cabless autonomous pods, Einride manages a fleet of 200 heavy-duty trucks for major global clients including Heineken, PepsiCo, and Carlsberg Sweden. The firm also recently secured a partnership with Amazon, providing trucking services through the retail giant’s Relay freight network using its proprietary Saga AI software. By controlling both the transport hardware and the charging management layer, Einride aims to lower the barrier for logistics companies hesitant to transition from diesel to electric freight.
