Israeli Forces Besiege Three Gaza Hospitals Amid Escalating Attacks

Israeli military units have encircled three critical medical facilities in northern Gaza, subjecting Kamal Adwan, Indonesian, and al-Awda hospitals to persistent shelling and sniper fire. The siege leaves hundreds of patients, including premature infants and those in intensive care, trapped without a safe exit as the healthcare system collapses.

Dr. Husam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, reported that projectiles have penetrated the facility's most sensitive departments, including intensive care and surgery. According to staff, the hospital is under fire from tank shells, snipers, and remotely operated ground vehicles. Eyewitness footage circulating online suggests the deployment of robots in the vicinity, with reports indicating they have been used to plant explosive devices near the hospital perimeter.

The Collapse of Medical Infrastructure

Although Israeli authorities have issued evacuation orders, medical personnel state that no viable or secure routes exist for the transfer of patients. Gaza’s Ministry of Health has decried the international silence, describing the situation as a direct assault on the remaining healthcare infrastructure. Data from Oxfam underscores the severity of the blockade, noting that only 12 aid trucks reached northern Gaza over the past two and a half months. The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights confirmed that communication with Kamal Adwan was severed on Sunday following a night of intense bombardment. Sally Abi-Khalil, Oxfam’s regional director, characterized the conditions as apocalyptic, warning that the continued absence of a cease-fire serves as a death sentence for civilians caught in the crossfire.
