The sentiment follows a robust second-quarter performance that bolstered management's confidence in its internal turnaround. PayPal reported an adjusted profit of $1.38 per share, comfortably beating the $1.28 estimate, while revenue climbed 5% year-over-year to $8.68 billion. Financial analysts at Cantor suggest these results support a valuation closer to $70 per share, leaving the current market price of roughly $58 looking undervalued to potential buyers.
PayPal Rejects Current Stripe Bid as Earnings Surge
With a $53.4 billion takeover bid on the table, PayPal is signaling that Stripe and Advent International’s current offer of $60.50 per share falls short. CEO Enrique Lores confirmed Tuesday that while the company remains open to strategic overtures, it will only engage if a path offers superior shareholder value.

Lores emphasized that the firm’s primary focus remains its AI-driven restructuring, which aims to carve the business into three distinct segments: checkout solutions, consumer financial services, and payment services. The company expects to realize $1.5 billion in gross run-rate savings over the next three years by trimming organizational layers and migrating data center infrastructure to the cloud. Despite the ongoing overhaul, the board maintains that any acquisition offer providing a better return than this standalone strategy will receive careful consideration.
