The Danish Refugee Council, Norwegian Refugee Council, Oxfam, Refugees International, and Save the Children released an assessment detailing the disconnect between the peace deal’s promises and the reality on the ground. According to the report, at least 700 Palestinians have been killed since the October agreement, including over 180 children. Inger Ashing, CEO of Save the Children International, stated that at least two children per day are killed or injured, noting that the ceasefire has failed to provide meaningful protection or recovery conditions.
Humanitarian Groups Label Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan a Failure
Six months after the implementation of a ceasefire in Gaza, five leading humanitarian organizations report that the Trump administration’s 20-point peace plan is failing. Their joint scorecard highlights that while sustained aerial bombardment has slowed, the exclave remains trapped in a cycle of deprivation, stalled reconstruction, and ongoing civilian casualties.
While the scorecard ranks civilian protection as "fragile," it deems humanitarian aid, economic development, and freedom of movement as complete failures. The plan promised at least 600 aid trucks daily, yet fewer than 100 enter the territory as most border crossings remain shuttered. Israel continues to restrict "dual-use" items, blocking essential medical supplies and fuel under the guise of security. Furthermore, the promised Special Economic Zone and formal reconstruction plans have yet to materialize, leaving 90% of the population displaced and struggling with hyper-inflated prices for basic goods. Oxfam America president Abby Maxman criticized the lack of progress, stating that Palestinians are still succumbing to preventable diseases and hunger while the administration's attention shifts elsewhere.
