Cloudflare has unveiled Kitesurf, a cloud-hosted browser built exclusively for AI agents rather than human users. By stripping away visual interfaces like tabs and themes, the platform allows developers to build software capable of navigating websites and completing complex tasks while optimizing for performance and lower computational costs.
Built in just 12 weeks, the browser integrates several specialized technologies, including the Blitz modular rendering engine, Firefox’s Stylo CSS parser, and the Rust-based Boa JS engine. Cloudflare reports that the browser already clears over 215,000 web platform tests. It successfully renders standard sites ranging from Wikipedia to the Cloudflare dashboard, proving it can handle the complexity of the modern web without the overhead of a consumer-facing application.
