Norges Bank Investment Management, the entity overseeing the fund, confirmed that the portfolio’s gains were underpinned by a robust equity market. With 72.1% of the fund’s assets tied to stocks, the performance of technology, telecommunications, and energy sectors proved decisive. Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft remain the fund's most significant holdings, anchoring a strategy that maintains a stake in roughly 1.5% of all publicly listed companies globally.
Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund Hits Record $185 Billion Profit
A surging interest in Asian technology stocks has propelled Norway’s $2.3 trillion Government Pension Fund Global to a record $185 billion profit during the first half of 2026. This performance, fueled by a 9.4% return on investments, marks a doubling of earnings compared to the same period last year.

CEO Nicolai Tangen noted that the results reflect strong momentum within the equity sector. As of June 30, the total value of the fund reached $2.39 trillion, an increase of $149 billion over the previous year. Beyond market performance, the fund continues to exert influence on corporate governance, recently signaling its opposition to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission proposal that would have relaxed requirements for climate-related risk disclosures.
