The improved financial performance stems from a combination of rising recurring revenue fees and a 12 percent reduction in operating expenses, which fell to $69 million. Management fees specifically reached $54 million, marking an 11 percent climb compared to the same period last year. By the end of June, assets under management stood at $51 billion, reflecting an 8 percent year-over-year increase fueled by market gains and net inflows.
Despite these gains, the firm faced a $20 million "other expense" hit, largely attributed to an unrealized investment loss on its Asian Credit and Special Situations stake following a manager's decision to unwind the fund. This stands in contrast to the $5 million expense recorded in the same period last year. The firm continues to target high-net-worth clients, maintaining a 96 percent retention rate since 2021 among its 830-strong client base, which averages $60 million in assets per individual or family.
