Feedly Users Face Weeklong Outages Amid Strategic AI Pivot

Conflict: While Feedly aggressively markets its new AI-driven threat intelligence tools, its core user base reports that the platform's fundamental RSS reader has become virtually unusable. Subscribers complain of severe web app latency and ignored support tickets, casting doubt on the company's commitment to its original service.

Feedly Users Face Weeklong Outages Amid Strategic AI Pivot

For over a week, users of the world’s largest standalone RSS reader have struggled with a web interface described as sluggish and unresponsive. The frustration is compounded by reports of total failures on the mobile app and the sudden, unannounced retirement of Feedly Classic, leaving a segment of long-term customers without their preferred tools. With 15 million users relying on the service to aggregate news, these technical failures have fueled speculation that the company is prioritizing its high-end enterprise AI products over its legacy consumer base.

CEO Edwin Khodabakchian attributes the web performance issues to a specific software bug triggered when users mark large volumes of content as read. He maintains that the RSS reader remains a vital component of the platform, noting that even his cyber threat intelligence clients rely on the core news-reading features. While a patch for the web interface was deployed this past Friday, the company is still verifying its effectiveness. Regarding the mobile experience, Khodabakchian confirmed the retirement of the older app but claimed no prior knowledge of the loading failures reported by iOS users, promising an immediate internal investigation.
