Einride Orders 500 Tesla Semis to Expand Electric Freight Network

Swedish logistics firm Einride is set to integrate 500 Tesla Semis into its fleet over the next 24 months, starting this September. The move, aimed at servicing major clients like Amazon, signals a massive scaling effort for the company’s Saga AI platform, which manages freight routing and electric charging infrastructure.

The deal represents a significant expansion for the Stockholm-based company, which currently operates roughly 200 heavy-duty trucks. By leveraging Tesla’s hardware, Einride intends to convert roughly $800 million in potential long-term recurring revenue into active contracts. The Tesla Semis will be deployed across critical North American corridors, specifically targeting California, Georgia, New Jersey, and Texas.

Management of these vehicles will fall under Saga AI, the platform Einride uses to optimize routes and charging cycles. This software-first approach allows corporate clients to adopt electric freight without the logistical overhead of direct ownership. To support this growth, Einride recently acquired EV charging specialist Flipturn, providing a comprehensive service package that includes both the trucks and the energy management systems required for reliable operation.

Success hinges on Tesla’s manufacturing output. Although the Semi concept debuted in 2017, volume production only reached a meaningful milestone in April 2026. Tesla continues to navigate battery supply constraints, specifically regarding its 4680 cell production, which remains the primary bottleneck for scaling the Semi program. Einride has secured third-party financing to facilitate the procurement, positioning itself as a central player in the shift toward electrified commercial transport.
