Flipkart Minutes Scales Rapidly to Challenge India's Delivery Leaders

Walmart-owned Flipkart is aggressively closing the gap on India’s quick-commerce giants, with its Minutes service now processing over 1.1 million daily orders. This rapid expansion places the e-commerce titan within striking distance of market incumbent Swiggy Instamart, intensifying a high-stakes battle for the country's instant-delivery market.

Flipkart Minutes Scales Rapidly to Challenge India's Delivery Leaders

Flipkart Minutes has surged from roughly 400,000 daily orders in November to more than 1.1 million today. This growth trajectory brings the service close to the volume of Swiggy’s Instamart, which currently handles approximately 1.4 million daily orders. While industry leaders Blinkit and Zepto maintain larger footprints with 3.5 million and 2.5 million daily orders respectively, Flipkart’s rapid infrastructure buildup signals a shift in the competitive landscape.

To support this momentum, Flipkart has expanded its network of micro-fulfillment centers to over 1,000 locations, adding roughly 100 facilities each month. The firm aims to reach 1,500 centers by the end of 2026. According to Satish Meena, an adviser at Datum Intelligence, Flipkart’s primary advantage lies in its ability to leverage an existing, massive e-commerce customer base that has already been cultivated over years of operation.

Customer engagement metrics underscore the service's appeal, with repeat buyers accounting for up to 70% of monthly transactions. Average order values currently range between ₹400 and ₹500, with increasing demand for gourmet and artisanal goods alongside traditional staples. As average delivery times drop to roughly 11 minutes, Flipkart and Amazon are both treating quick commerce as a defensive necessity. With consumers increasingly unwilling to return to scheduled grocery deliveries, the race to capture instant-purchase habits has become a central priority for India’s largest digital retailers.
