Google Transforms AI Search Into a Dedicated Travel Agent

By integrating flight tracking, hotel reservations, and loyalty point calculations directly into its conversational interface, Google is shifting its AI Mode from a simple information gatherer to a functional travel agent capable of managing the entire booking process across 180 countries.

Google Transforms AI Search Into a Dedicated Travel Agent

The search giant’s latest update allows users to bypass traditional travel sites by building full itineraries within the AI interface. Travelers can now request price alerts for specific routes, which arrive via email if costs fluctuate, and browse hotel options curated by personal preference. When a selection is made, the tool facilitates the transition to partners like Expedia, Marriott, or Hilton, allowing for final payments through Google Pay.

Beyond booking logistics, the tool now interprets complex queries regarding travel rewards. Users can specify airline or hotel loyalty programs, prompting the AI to display costs in points or miles rather than cash. This feature, already live globally, marks a significant push to keep users within the Google ecosystem from the initial search phase through to the final reservation. While the hotel booking functionality is currently limited to English-language users in the U.S., the company plans to expand these offerings over the coming weeks.
