The partnership removes the friction of pasting Amazon Associates links in video descriptions, replacing them with clickable tags. Amazon provides a curated catalog of trending items, though creators can petition YouTube Support to add specific products missing from the initial list. For those looking to scale, an auto-tagging feature scans recent uploads to identify and link eligible merchandise without manual oversight.
YouTube Integrates Amazon Shopping Into Creator Affiliate Program
Eligible U.S. creators can now tag Amazon products directly within their YouTube videos, bypassing the need for manual link placement. This integration allows creators to earn commissions on sales generated through shorts, long-form content, and livestreams, effectively embedding Amazon's massive marketplace into the platform’s existing shopping infrastructure.
While the current rollout is restricted to U.S.-based creators, the impact is global. Viewers outside the United States may see these tags routed to local merchant offers or the Amazon U.S. storefront. Revenue tracking remains centralized in YouTube Studio, where creators monitor daily earnings rather than granular, per-video data. Earnings are subject to adjustments should a customer return a purchased item. To activate these features, users must hold active accounts in both the YouTube Partner and Shopping Affiliate programs, alongside a linked Amazon Influencer or Associates profile.
