Tapley arrives at Mediolanum after a 14-year tenure at Royal London Asset Management, where he served as a senior fund manager for leveraged finance. His background also includes analytical roles at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership and Gulf International Bank, providing him with exposure to multiple credit cycles. His recruitment follows the hiring of Martin Reeves, who joined as head of high yield fixed income earlier this year.
Stephen Tapley Joins Mediolanum to Lead High Yield Expansion
With nearly two decades of experience in sub-investment grade credit markets, Stephen Tapley has been named deputy head of high yield at Mediolanum International Funds Limited. He joins the firm’s 72-member investment team in Dublin to bolster the group’s internal management of high-yield strategies and long-term performance.

This appointment marks another step in Mediolanum’s strategy to scale its internal investment platform, which currently manages €22 billion in public market assets. The broader Mediolanum Banking Group oversees a total of €82 billion in assets under management. According to Reeves, the firm intends to use this addition to deepen the platform's expertise and strengthen its internal capabilities within the competitive high-yield sector.
