AfterQuery hits $3.2B valuation in record YC sprint

A 10-fold valuation jump in just five months has propelled AfterQuery to a $3.2 billion price tag, marking the fastest ascent to unicorn status in Y Combinator’s history. The AI training-data firm reached this milestone only 18 months after its founders participated in the accelerator’s Winter 2025 cohort.

The San Francisco-based startup, led by founders aged 22 and 23, surged from a $300 million valuation in April to its current multi-billion dollar status. Y Combinator partner Gustaf Alströmer confirmed the record-breaking pace of the company’s growth. By April, AfterQuery reported an annualized revenue run rate of $100 million, securing contracts with major industry players such as Nvidia, Legora, and Motif Technologies.

While companies like Scale and Mercor have long utilized specialists for model training, AfterQuery differentiates its approach by focusing on operational methodology. Rather than mere fact-checking, the platform encodes the specific reasoning, decision-making patterns, and workflows of elite professionals, including lawyers and doctors. This enables AI models and agents to execute complex tasks by mirroring the behavior of the world’s most skilled practitioners.
