Permira now holds a majority stake in JTC, with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board retaining a 20 per cent interest. Despite the shift in ownership, the firm will maintain its existing brand and leadership, with CEO Nigel Le Quesne continuing to head the management team. JTC, founded in 1987, currently employs over 2,500 people and serves a client base exceeding 14,000 across more than 100 countries.
Permira Completes £2.7 Billion Take-Private Acquisition of JTC
A £2.7 billion deal has officially transitioned JTC from a publicly traded firm on the London Stock Exchange to a private entity. The acquisition, led by private equity firm Permira alongside the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, marks a new chapter for the Jersey-based global professional services provider.

Le Quesne stated that the partnership provides the necessary support to execute the company's "Genesis" business plan, which aims to double the size of the group. The strategy focuses heavily on expanding operations within the United States, particularly in trust services and fund solutions. Robin Bell-Jones, a partner at Permira, noted that the firm plans to accelerate JTC’s growth in North America and Europe through strategic acquisitions and the integration of AI-enabled service delivery, capitalizing on the rising demand for alternative assets and the ongoing intergenerational transfer of wealth.
