The new office will focus on providing fund management, discretionary portfolio management, and investment advisory services to institutional clients and ultra-high net worth families. Tim Haywood, managing director of the DIFC representative office, noted that the region’s significant private and public wealth combined with the UAE's robust legal framework creates an ideal platform for the firm’s specialized focus on real assets and asset-backed financing.
GRT Capital Management Opens Dubai Hub
Hong Kong-based asset manager GRT Capital Management has officially entered the Middle East, establishing a new regional hub within the Dubai International Financial Centre. The firm, now regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority, aims to capture growing demand for alternative and Shariah-compliant investment strategies across the MEASA region.
GRT’s expansion follows a broader industry trend of financial firms pivoting toward the Emirates to tap into local capital. Jamie Lam, president of GRT, described the move as a natural progression for the firm’s global growth strategy. By securing a foothold in the DIFC, the company intends to deepen its collaboration with strategic partners, including its ongoing efforts with land asset management group Walton Global. This development mirrors recent activity from competitors like Paris-based Carmignac, which also recently established a presence in the district to meet rising wealth management demand.
