Amnesty accuses Meta of failing to curb anti-LGBTQI hate in Hungary

These findings anchor a new report from Amnesty International, which argues that Meta’s internal moderation failures and engagement-focused algorithms have amplified the hostility generated by Viktor Orbán’s government policies.

Amnesty’s assessment highlights a systemic breakdown in due diligence, asserting that Meta’s policy decisions have directly contributed to adverse human rights impacts. For activists like journalist Ádám Kanicsár, the danger extends beyond adult users, posing a severe threat to teenagers navigating their own identity in a hostile digital environment. Despite repeated reports from users, the platform’s inability to effectively remove this content leaves vulnerable populations exposed to daily vitriol.
