Silverton Partners led the financing, which follows an earlier $10 million pre-seed round. Returning backers include Slauson & Co., Harlem Capital, and Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen, joined by new participants such as Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Ventures and individual investors from Tesla, Uber, and Google. Asante noted that the capital influx was unexpected but necessary to accommodate intense market interest from ports and AI data centers.
Bluecore Energy Secures $50M to Deploy Floating Nuclear Reactors
Portable nuclear power startup Bluecore Energy has closed an oversubscribed $50 million seed round just two months after emerging from stealth. Founded by Kofi Asante, the company aims to bypass traditional infrastructure hurdles by mounting small modular reactors on floating barges to deliver electricity directly to ports and industrial sites.

Headquartered at the Port of Long Beach, the company is currently navigating the regulatory landscape for its mobile power plants. Formal design reviews with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard began in August. The startup is leveraging engineering talent from SpaceX, Rivian, and Toyota to manage the complex supply chain required for reactor production. Asante plans to use the new funds to accelerate hardware procurement, secure nuclear fuel, and scale the team as they prepare to deploy technology modeled after the Navy’s long-standing, accident-free maritime nuclear program.
