The agency has committed $875 million to a cloud-based AI platform designed to automate complex routing decisions and predict congestion before it creates hazards for aircraft across the national airspace.

The 12-year contract marks a significant shift toward automated oversight, with the initial rollout scheduled for the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
