Beryllus Capital and Cambodian Families Launch Mekong Growth Fund

A coalition of Cambodian business families and UK-based Beryllus Capital has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Beryllus Capital Mekong Growth Fund. The venture aims to secure between $200 million and $500 million, with long-term aspirations of scaling the platform beyond $1 billion.

The fund unites WorldBridge Group with prominent local figures, including Neak Oknha Thay Cheahouth and Oknha Hieng Bunpeng of Peng Huoth Group, Oknha Thai Seang of TSNR Distribution Co, Neak Oknha Bun Hay of Borey Phnom Penh Thmey Co, and Neak Oknha Ly Hong of The Premier Angkor Palace Co. This partnership offers Cambodia’s private wealth access to a globally regulated investment platform, while inviting sovereign wealth funds and development finance institutions to co-invest alongside local stakeholders. The capital will be deployed across three primary sleeves: infrastructure assets within the Mekong corridor, global public markets for liquidity, and private equity initiatives.

WorldBridge Group chairman Neak Oknha Sear Rithy described the move as a way to channel the ambition of the local business community into a fund meeting international standards. The initiative arrives as the region grapples with significant infrastructure needs, with the Asian Development Bank estimating that ASEAN requires approximately $210 billion annually through 2030. While Cambodia continues to rely on sectors like textiles, foreign direct investment remains a vital economic anchor, reaching $5.1 billion last year. Despite the growth, the World Bank recently highlighted ongoing pressure from surging energy prices, a factor shaping the climate for new institutional vehicles in the country.
