Total liquids production, which encompasses crude oil, natural gas liquids, and condensate, reached 2.073 million barrels per day. This marks a 4.9% increase from July, effectively reversing the previous month’s temporary decline. While crude production rose by 98,000 barrels per day, it still trails the 1.956 million barrels recorded in August 2025 by 3.8%.
Norway Oil Output Climbs as Gas Production Stumbles
Norway’s crude oil production surged to 1.882 million barrels per day in August, a rebound that outpaced the Norwegian Offshore Directorate’s expectations by 4.4%. Despite the monthly recovery, total liquids output remains 4% below levels seen last year, highlighting the persistent volatility facing the nation’s offshore energy sector.
Natural gas performance diverged from the liquids sector, averaging 342 million standard cubic meters per day. This figure fell 6.6 million cubic meters short of the Directorate's forecast and dropped from July’s output. Given Norway’s role as the primary gas supplier to Europe, these fluctuations carry significant weight for regional energy stability as the winter heating season approaches. Whether production maintains this momentum depends on the conclusion of summer maintenance cycles and the ongoing output capacity of mature offshore fields.
