The reinforcements arrived last month as fears mount that the ongoing conflict could escalate if President Donald Trump moves to resume direct strikes on Iran. Tensions remain high following recent threats from the White House, where the President warned that Iran must reach a fair agreement or face existential consequences.
U.S. Deploys Patriot Batteries to Guard Saudi and Qatari Energy Hubs
The U.S. military recently dispatched two Patriot missile batteries to the Persian Gulf, stationing defensive assets at a critical Saudi oil facility and a Qatari natural gas site. Officials confirm the deployment aims to shield vital energy infrastructure against potential Iranian strikes should regional hostilities intensify further.

Energy infrastructure in the region has already felt the impact of the current war. In March, Iranian strikes crippled the Ras Laffan LNG site in Qatar, forcing QatarEnergy to suspend operations. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia recently grappled with drone attacks on its East-West pipeline. The strikes, which damaged pumping stations on September 10, forced a two-week shutdown of the conduit—a critical artery designed to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. While Saudi authorities have resumed partial operations and restarted crude loadings at Yanbu port, full capacity of 4 million barrels per day remains weeks away. These disruptions have amplified global anxiety over crude supply stability and soaring fuel prices.
