The platform operates by managing tasks that typically occupy a user’s schedule, such as booking travel, ordering groceries, or managing recurring bills. Unlike standard chatbots that provide instructions, Tab functions with its own integrated wallet and phone number to execute actions directly on behalf of the user. According to co-founder Ammar Amdani, the goal is to replicate the role of a personal concierge, offloading the cognitive burden of daily administrative chores.
Tab Enters AI Assistant Race with $300 Million Valuation
A new AI assistant called Tab emerged from stealth this week, securing a $300 million valuation to compete in the growing market for consumer-facing automation. Founders Brennan Erbz, Stafford Schlitt, and Ammar Amdani designed the service to handle personal logistics through iMessage and WhatsApp, functioning as an autonomous digital proxy.

Backing for the startup includes investment from SV Angel, Valar Ventures, and American Spirit. While the company is currently expanding primarily through word-of-mouth, it faces stiff competition from established players like Meta’s Muse and the viral assistant Instinct. Amdani argues that technical capability is only a baseline requirement; the primary hurdle for widespread adoption remains user trust. To address privacy concerns, the company has pledged that personal data is excluded from AI training sets, and high-stakes actions, such as financial transactions, require explicit user approval before execution.
