Detroit-based Bloom secures $3.6M to digitize U.S. manufacturing

Detroit startup Bloom has closed a $3.6 million seed round led by SNAK Venture Partners to scale its AI-driven marketplace for hardware supply chains. The platform, which connects companies with domestic contract manufacturers, pivoted from a logistics service to a discovery engine to capitalize on surging demand for local production.

CEO Justin Kosmides founded the company in 2023 with the initial intent of handling logistics and manufacturing for mobility firms. However, as shifting trade tariffs and a rise in domestic robotics and drone startups altered the landscape, the company refocused. Bloom now functions as a digital matchmaker, using proprietary data to connect buyers with suppliers for complex needs like assembly, engineering, and specialized freight.

SNAK Venture Partners, which initially passed on the startup during its pre-seed phase, led the investment after observing a fivefold increase in platform memberships and significant revenue growth. The firm, founded by retail veteran Sonia Nagar, joined other backers including Flyover Capital, Mana Ventures, and various Detroit-based entities. Bloom currently manages the entire transaction lifecycle, from initial bidding to final payment, filling a gap for hardware companies that require more than simple parts procurement.

By ingesting both public data and direct provider inputs, the platform attempts to solve the discovery problem that often hampers small-scale U.S. manufacturers. According to Kosmides, the system has already facilitated over 2,000 matches, allowing smaller shops—previously relegated to odd jobs—to pivot into high-growth sectors like drone assembly. The capital infusion marks the end of a challenging fundraising period for the CEO, who now aims to establish the platform as a foundational infrastructure for domestic hardware production.
