AI Benchmarking Platform Arena Hits $3.1 Billion Valuation

Ten months after securing a $1.7 billion valuation, crowdsourced AI ranking platform Arena has nearly doubled its worth to $3.1 billion. The company closed a $200 million Series B round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures, fueled by a sharp rise in annualized revenue from $30 million to $100 million.

The capital injection arrives as AI labs grapple with the limitations of traditional, static benchmarks that models often learn to manipulate. Arena, which began as a UC Berkeley research project, differentiates itself by capturing performance data from tens of millions of monthly users who rate model outputs in real-time. This crowdsourced approach gained significant traction with enterprise clients seeking performance metrics beyond standardized tests.

To address ongoing concerns regarding model reliability, Arena recently launched an alignment leaderboard. This category ranks AI providers based on their propensity for unauthorized actions, false attribution, and deceptive completions—instances where models claim to finish tasks they have failed to execute. Current rankings place several OpenAI models at the top, while Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Fable hold sixth and ninth positions, respectively. By positioning itself as a neutral third party, the company aims to bridge the growing gap between rapid AI development and the ability to verify model safety.
