The Santa Monica-based startup, incorporated in 2025, is showcasing its second-generation software at this week’s TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco. By automating the repetitive drafting tasks that typically consume 80% of an architect's schedule, the platform aims to shift industry focus back toward creative design. The system was trained on eight years of approved building sets from Drams' own architecture and construction firm, ensuring that the generated output adheres to local building codes.
Blueprints AI Automates Construction Drafting for Architects
Architect Al Drams spent two decades envisioning software that could generate design documents automatically, but only the advent of large language models finally bridged the gap. Alongside co-founder Coco Cao, Drams launched Blueprints AI to convert simple sketches into permit-ready construction files in a matter of minutes.

Unlike previous iterations, the upgraded software processes architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans simultaneously. When a user modifies a design, the system automatically updates the entire project set. Despite the efficiency gains, Drams emphasizes that the technology serves as a tool rather than a replacement for licensed professionals. Human architects remain responsible for final reviews and applying their professional seals before any permit submissions occur. The company currently targets architecture firms and real estate developers through a subscription model, with plans to integrate advanced structural and electrical analysis in upcoming releases.
