The company’s approach centers on agility. By utilizing a compact design, co-founder and CEO Yun Kai claims the team can execute up to 80 experimental shots daily, feeding data into AI-driven simulations to refine their reactor architecture. This strategy recently secured $6.2 million in seed funding led by Azolla Ventures, with additional support from Overlay, Neta Foundation, and MassCEC.
Technical innovation drives their process: unlike massive inertial confinement systems, this design relies on only two primary lasers to ignite fuel. By splitting a laser into concentric rings, the system generates precise shock waves that compress fuel targets with significantly lower power requirements. This methodology originated in the MIT laboratory of chemist Keith Nelson, where researchers discovered that high-pressure material studies were nearing fusion-ready thresholds.
