Recent Leadership Moves Across Wealth Management and Law Firms

The wealth management and legal sectors are seeing a fresh wave of talent shifts, with Carey Olsen, W1M Wealth Management, and Withers securing key appointments. From the Cayman Islands to London and Scotland, these moves signal a strategic focus on private wealth advisory, immigration law, and complex estate planning.

Recent Leadership Moves Across Wealth Management and Law Firms

Carey Olsen has elevated trusts and private wealth lawyer Katie Turney to counsel in the Cayman Islands. A qualified Trusts and Estates Practitioner, Turney specializes in cross-border estate planning and wealth structuring. Her appointment follows her election to the global steering committee of the STEP Contentious Trusts and Estates Special Interest Group.

W1M Wealth Management is expanding its private wealth team with the addition of Rachel Gu, Jay Brar, and Chris Megahey. Brar joins as a portfolio manager from LGT Wealth Management, while Gu transitions from RBC Brewin Dolphin to serve as a wealth manager. In Scotland, Megahey joins the firm with over 23 years of industry experience to bolster the company's advisory services regarding retirement strategies and intergenerational wealth transfer.

International law firm Withers has appointed Sophie Barrett-Brown as a partner in its UK immigration team. Previously the head of UK Immigration at Laura Devine Immigration, Barrett-Brown brings two decades of experience advising ultra-high net worth individuals and multinational corporations. Jay Dinwwodie, CEO of Withers' Private Client and Tax division, noted that the hire reflects the firm's focus on navigating the evolving landscape of UK immigration policy and business migration.
