CEO Alexis Lanternier confirmed the move follows a company survey indicating that 45% of subscribers want the ability to strip AI tracks from their feeds. This shift reflects a rapid escalation in platform volume; while AI-generated content accounted for 10% of daily uploads last year, that figure crossed the 50% threshold in July, hitting approximately 90,000 tracks per day.
Deezer to Introduce User Toggle for Filtering AI Music
Faced with a surge of synthetic tracks flooding its library, Deezer is rolling out a filter to hide AI-generated content from search results. The feature, slated for release before year-end, responds to a clear user preference for human-composed music over the algorithmic output currently dominating daily uploads.
Deezer remains more aggressive than its competitors in managing this transition. While Spotify focuses on prominent labeling and Tidal restricts monetization for AI creators, Bandcamp maintains an outright ban on such content. By implementing both detection tools and user-controlled toggles, the platform aims to provide a curated experience for listeners who prioritize traditional artistry.
