The company’s latest report reveals that technical roles now comprise 56% of the workforce, down from 61%, as non-technical staff increasingly use coding tools to build software independently. This shift has redefined productivity, though not without friction. Employees report a transition from traditional labor to a role described as "babysitting" multiple AI agents, leading to a bottleneck where human judgment struggles to keep pace with the sheer volume of generated text.
Anthropic shifts toward senior talent as AI changes meeting culture
Technical hiring at Anthropic has undergone a stark transformation, with the proportion of junior-level staff plummeting from 27% to 9% over the past year. As the company embeds its own models into every facet of its operation, the nature of daily work has shifted from individual creation to managing AI output.

Despite gains in output—such as increased code volume and contract processing—the rise of AI has paradoxically tethered staff to their calendars. Meeting time has climbed 20% across the board, with technical contributors spending 16% more time in coordination sessions. Anthropic cites this as a necessary trade-off, arguing that as AI automates execution, human trust and face-to-face accountability remain the primary drivers of organizational stability.
