Amazon is diversifying its hardware lineup, moving beyond standard smart speakers to target home aesthetics and sleep habits. The company unveiled a series of new devices today, led by a digital photo frame designed to blend into gallery walls and a dedicated bedside clock engineered to manage sleep cycles.
The Alexa Photo Frame marks Amazon's entry into the premium display market. Featuring a 10-inch semi-matte, anti-glare screen, the device prioritizes visual warmth over traditional digital brightness. It integrates directly with Prime Photos, using Alexa+ to curate personal galleries by filtering out screenshots and receipts while prioritizing seasonal family images. Prices start at $199.99 for the Black model, with wood-finish options in Birch or Walnut reaching $229.
For the bedroom, the new Echo Time serves as a specialized alarm system priced at $199.99. It mirrors features found in competitors like Hatch, including sunrise-mimicking lights and sleep-sensing technology that monitors phases of rest to trigger alarms during lighter sleep cycles. The device aims to reduce reliance on smartphones for morning routines.
Amazon also refreshed its core speaker and display hardware. The updated Echo Dot now functions as a smart home hub with a built-in eero Wi-Fi extender, offering an additional 1,000 square feet of coverage powered by the custom AZ3 chip. Meanwhile, the Echo Studio with Home Camera introduces visual intelligence, allowing the speaker to identify household items and explain board game rules in real time. Rounding out the announcements, the $499.99 Echo Show 16 features a larger display with a reduced frame, incorporating Fire TV and enhanced family organization tools.
