GE Vernova targets grid dominance with $9 billion Trench acquisition
Utilities are racing to modernize aging infrastructure, and GE Vernova is positioning itself at the center of that shift with the $9 billion acquisition of high-voltage equipment maker Trench Group. The deal, paired with a significant upward revision of 2026 revenue forecasts, underscores the company's aggressive pursuit of the electrification market.

Financial momentum remains strong, with third-quarter orders jumping 96% to $29.3 billion and the total backlog swelling to a record $197 billion. While the company faces a projected 2026 wind segment EBITDA loss of up to $500 million, the electrification division continues to outperform with 51% revenue growth. Investors have responded to these results and the doubled $20 billion share buyback authorization by pushing GE Vernova shares up nearly 30% year-on-year.
