Kristy Barr will join Quilter in early 2027 as managing director for UK platform and investment solutions. Reporting to chief distribution officer Steve Gazard, she will lead advisor-facing teams and manage relationships with external firms. Barr brings extensive industry experience from previous leadership roles at Aberdeen, BMO Global Asset Management, and Octopus Investments. Gazard noted that the appointment follows a thorough search process intended to ensure a seamless transition for the business.
Leadership Shifts at Quilter and Gemcorp Capital
The wealth management sector sees significant executive movement as Quilter prepares for a long-term succession plan and Gemcorp Capital bolsters its emerging markets strategy. Kristy Barr joins the UK wealth manager to oversee investment solutions, while Mariya Gancheva takes on a key credit strategy role at the asset manager.

Simultaneously, Gemcorp Capital has appointed Mariya Gancheva as chief strategist and portfolio manager for Emerging Markets Distressed and Special Situations Credit. Gancheva is tasked with identifying mispriced risks across sovereign and corporate bonds. She arrives with over 20 years of experience, including senior positions at Morgan Stanley and HSBC. According to Gemcorp’s chief investment officer Parvoleta Shtereva, the move is a strategic effort to cement the firm’s position in emerging markets investing. Gancheva stated that her focus remains on uncovering opportunities often overlooked by broader market consensus.
