Eugenia Kuyda’s Wabi hits unicorn status with $1.25 billion valuation

With a fresh $55 million injection led by IVP, Wabi has officially reached a $1.25 billion valuation. The startup, founded by Replika creator Eugenia Kuyda, is pivoting from a prompt-based app builder into a personal agent capable of generating custom interfaces for daily tasks like meal planning and fitness tracking.

The shift marks a strategic move to capture the surging interest in agentic AI. While the company initially focused on allowing users to build software through simple prompts, the new iteration acts as an active messenger interface. Investors are betting that Kuyda’s vision for AI interaction will transcend standard chat boxes and command lines, positioning Wabi against high-profile competitors like Instinct and Tolan in an increasingly crowded market.

This funding round drew a roster of high-profile backers, including Andreessen Horowitz, Forerunner, and the Amazon Alexa Fund. Notable angel investors also joined the effort, among them Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, and former Yahoo! executive Marissa Mayer. Alex Lim, general partner at IVP, cited Kuyda’s track record and refined product design as the primary drivers behind the firm's decision to lead the investment.
