Amazon Prime Video Hits Multi-Billion Dollar Revenue Milestone

Four years after the $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM, Amazon is reaping the rewards of its Hollywood pivot. CEO Andy Jassy confirmed on Thursday that Prime Video has reached a revenue run rate in the tens of billions of dollars, marking the streaming service’s transition into a standalone, profitable powerhouse.

Amazon Prime Video Hits Multi-Billion Dollar Revenue Milestone

Amazon MGM Studios has generated over $1.2 billion in global box office revenue this year, fueled largely by the success of Project Hail Mary. The film, starring Ryan Gosling, earned $684 million worldwide to become the studio’s highest-grossing release to date. While the year saw a notable misfire with Melania, the studio’s television slate remains robust. Hits such as Fallout, The Boys, and Reacher continue to draw massive audiences, with Reacher already secured through a sixth season.

Live sports broadcasting has emerged as another primary engine for growth. Thursday Night Football remains the streaming service’s standout performer, averaging 17.7 million viewers through the first six games of the season—a 16% increase over the previous year. With additional rights for NASCAR, the Masters, and UEFA Champions League soccer, Amazon is successfully converting its massive e-commerce user base into a dedicated streaming audience, proving that the company's aggressive investment in content is paying tangible dividends.
