The lender’s private banking and wealth division, which encompasses Coutts and the newly acquired Evelyn Partners, proved a key driver of performance. This segment delivered £156 million in operating profit, a notable jump from £108 million during the same period in 2025. Assets under management climbed to £118 billion, supported by £1 billion in net inflows, even as customer deposits across the group saw a marginal dip of £300 million due to seasonal tax outflows.

Financial health metrics remained robust, with the return on tangible equity rising to 21.6 per cent from 21 per cent. The bank’s Common Equity Tier 1 ratio reached 13.5 per cent, an increase of 30 basis points year-on-year. Management attributed the operational efficiency to enhanced digital integration, noting that AI usage among staff surged by 66 per cent, directly assisting relationship managers in identifying evolving client needs. While operating pre-tax profit grew by 3.2 per cent to reach £2.502 billion, shares in the UK-listed institution have faced pressure, declining 8.7 per cent since the beginning of the year.
