The Al Munasseq app, or 'The Coordinator,' serves as a digital gatekeeper for Palestinians requiring permits for essential tasks, including medical treatment, employment, and family visits. According to Ekō, Microsoft’s Azure Functions and Azure Monitor tools provide the technical backbone that allows the Israeli military to process these requests and track user activity.
Rewan Al-Haddad, a senior campaign director at Ekō, described the platform as the machinery of control, arguing that the involvement of a Western tech giant within the European Union sets a dangerous precedent. Following the release of these findings, Irish parliamentarian Sinead Gibney has formally called for an investigation into the company’s role in hosting the infrastructure.
