The capital injection brings EloElo’s total funding to $130 million, a massive vote of confidence for a platform that has scaled to 33 million active users. Founded in 2020 by former Flipkart executive Saurabh Pandey, the company currently maintains a library of over 5,000 titles across six languages. Users are logging an average of 95 minutes daily on the app, signaling a shift away from traditional appointment television toward fragmented, mobile-centric viewing habits.
EloElo Secures $80M to Scale India’s Microdrama Market
With 118 million monthly viewers now consuming serialized microdramas, India has emerged as a high-stakes arena for mobile-first entertainment. EloElo, the parent company of Story TV, just secured $80 million in Series C funding from NBCUniversal and Hornbill Capital, pushing its valuation to $500 million as it bets on the future of vertical video.

Despite the rapid growth, the industry faces a significant monetization hurdle. While analysts expect the Indian microdrama market to hit $4 billion in annual revenue by 2030, current data suggests a deep-seated resistance to paid subscriptions. Research from Ormax Media indicates that 72% of consumers have never paid for content, and only 15 to 17 million users pay on a monthly basis. To bridge this gap, EloElo is leaning into its Dolphin AI platform. Originally an internal production tool, it is being positioned to streamline content creation for marketing and original programming, aiming to keep its pipeline fresh enough to compete with free alternatives like YouTube and TikTok. With 240 employees, the company plans to aggressively expand its AI research team and original content catalog using the new capital.
