Titan OS secures $46 million to scale smart TV advertising reach

Barcelona-based Titan OS has secured $46 million in fresh equity and debt funding, signaling an aggressive push to expand its smart TV operating system beyond Europe. Backed by BlackRock and existing investors, the startup aims to capture more market share as hardware manufacturers seek new revenue streams beyond device sales.

The company’s total funding now reaches $110 million, following a $58 million round last year. CFO Hyoungung Kim noted that while the business could have scaled organically, the capital injection accelerates its ability to court new device manufacturers and agencies. Titan OS currently powers screens for 30 million users, a significant jump from 18 million in 2023. Recent partnerships with brands like Sharp, AOC, Vestel, and Skyworth, alongside a high-profile shift by Philips to replace Google TV with the Titan platform for 2026 models, have bolstered its market position.

To manage this expansion, the firm has grown its headcount to 250 and established a London office focused on advertising. The strategy hinges on solving the "content discovery" problem through AI-driven interface tweaks and an impartial approach to FAST channels, contrasting itself with tech giants that prioritize their own streaming ecosystems. As hardware margins tighten due to rising chipset costs, manufacturers are increasingly viewing Titan’s revenue-sharing model as a critical financial lifeline.
