Mediobanca reported attributable net profit of €1.09 billion ($1.10 billion) for the first nine months of 2026, up 13.3% from a year earlier. Pre-tax profit increased 8.6% to €1.98 billion, the Milan-headquartered bank said.
Net operating income rose 11.4%, while operating costs edged down 0.5%. Mediobanca’s Common Equity Tier 1 ratio was 15.0% on a phased-in basis.
Wealth management profit fell 21.7% to €164.9 million, affected by a higher tax rate and €28 million in non-recurring charges. Assets under management and administration increased 4.6% to €88.8 billion. Total financial assets stood at €117 billion, unchanged, while the division’s cost/income ratio narrowed to 66.2%.
CEO and general manager Alessandro Melzi d’Eril said all divisions had contributed positively. Corporate and investment banking recorded its highest nine-month revenues, he said, while consumer finance remained buoyant and profitable, with new loans of almost €8 billion. Wealth management showed stability in revenues, total financial assets and its distribution network, he added.
Mediobanca expects the decline in wealth management profitability to ease as activities gradually normalise, despite charges to retain commercial staff and clients. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has taken full control of Mediobanca and is moving to delist it. The Mediobanca brand identity will be preserved.
