Ozlo Refines Sleep Tech with Second-Generation Earbuds

Priced at $279, the Sleepbuds 2 arrive as a significant evolution for the startup founded by former Bose engineers. The new hardware addresses core user grievances from the original model, specifically targeting battery longevity, Bluetooth stability, and audio fidelity to secure its position in the competitive sleep-tech market.

The company, which acquired the intellectual property behind the original Bose Sleepbuds program, has extended battery life from 10 to 14 hours. The redesigned charging case now includes a physical button for quick-access controls, allowing users to toggle sounds or snooze alarms without needing to engage with their smartphones. According to the company, a complete overhaul of the antenna and signal extender architecture aims to eliminate the connectivity issues that frustrated early adopters.

Beyond hardware stability, the update introduces a software-driven 'Sleep Shield' to filter out incoming notifications and calls. The earbuds also feature a new amplifier to improve sound masking, complemented by personalized tuning modes for focus, travel, and spoken word content. Ozlo is further expanding its diagnostic capabilities; the buds track breathing and movement, while the case monitors environmental factors like ambient light and room temperature. These data points are intended to feed into the company's long-term vision of an AI-driven sleep platform designed to interpret individual rest patterns.
