Spur Intelligence Secures $200 Million to Combat Bot Traffic

Bots now outnumber human users on the internet, a milestone that has propelled Lake Mary-based startup Spur Intelligence to a $200 million funding round led by Insight Partners. Founded by former Defense Department engineers, the firm provides specialized infrastructure analysis to expose the hidden networks behind malicious automated traffic.

The surge in bot activity has reached a critical threshold, with Cloudflare data confirming that non-human traffic surpassed human interaction for the first time in internet history as of mid-2026. CEO Matthew Prince noted that the rapid growth of agentic traffic arrived months earlier than initial projections suggested, creating an urgent demand for detection tools that go beyond basic behavioral analysis.

Insight Partners managing director Thomas Krane emphasized that companies currently face a dangerous blind spot. While security teams can observe suspicious activity, they often lack visibility into the underlying criminal VPNs and residential proxy networks facilitating these attacks. By focusing on the infrastructure rather than just the session, Spur aims to provide enterprises with the defensive edge required to navigate an increasingly automated threat landscape.
