Moove Secures $250M to Scale Autonomous Robotaxi Fleet Operations

Founded in Nigeria in 2020 and now based in Dubai, Moove currently manages a fleet of 42,000 vehicles and employs 3,300 people. Co-founder and co-CEO Ladi Delano identified a critical gap in the robotaxi ecosystem: while developers, manufacturers, and platforms like Uber compete for dominance, few entities are willing to own, maintain, and service the actual hardware. Moove aims to fill this void by leveraging its existing expertise in fleet financing and management to orchestrate autonomous operations.

The startup has already secured a partnership with Waymo, acting as a fleet operator in Phoenix, Miami, Las Vegas, and eventually London. While the company currently operates these vehicles without ownership, it plans to use the new capital to purchase robotaxis through debt financing. Delano confirmed that Moove already possesses autonomous vehicles from an undisclosed partner, with long-term ambitions to scale to hundreds of thousands of units.

Funding will also support the development of "Nests," automated depots designed for 24/7 vehicle maintenance, charging, and cleaning. The company is currently developing 15 such facilities. This financing round was led by Mubadala Investment Company, with participation from Woven Capital, Ion Pacific, Uber, and BlackRock, among others. With its traditional mobility business nearing full profitability, Moove intends to use the fresh injection of capital to hire 350 additional staff to accelerate its autonomous infrastructure build-out.
