Wotton brings over a decade of specialized expertise to his new role, having served as executive director at Coutts since 2014. His background includes significant tenures at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, where he led similar divisions, and an associate director role at HSBC Private Bank’s global sports group. His recruitment signals a strategic expansion for Weatherbys, which has added nearly a dozen bankers to its ranks over the last 18 months.
Weatherbys Private Bank Hires Coutts Veteran to Lead Entertainment Arm
Matt Wotton, a seasoned executive formerly responsible for the sports, media, and entertainment division at Coutts, has joined Weatherbys Private Bank to oversee the same sector. His transition to the horse-racing-linked institution arrives as wealth managers increasingly target the complex financial needs of high-profile industry figures.

The bank also confirmed the appointment of Luke Page, a former Investec and Coutts banker, who joins as a principal private banker. Page spent 11 years at Coutts before moving to Investec in 2022. These personnel changes highlight the growing focus on bespoke financial services for clients in media and entertainment, where irregular income streams and high-stakes asset management demand specialized oversight.
