The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) uncovered records showing that Palantir’s software is embedded within the Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) Model, a Medicare pilot currently active in six states. Application materials from Zyter, a participating technology vendor, confirm that Palantir serves as mission-critical infrastructure for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and multiple private insurers.
A report from the Center for Health and Democracy Education Fund highlights that Palantir provides AI-driven decision-making solutions to industry giants, including Humana, Cigna, and Blue Shield of California. While these companies integrate sophisticated algorithms into their workflows, the specific purposes and data-sharing agreements remain shielded from public oversight. The report warns that because participating vendors receive a cut of the value of denied claims, the system creates a structural incentive to reject care.
