Netflix Launches AI-Powered Discover Tab to Curb Scrolling Fatigue

Struggling to navigate an expanding library, Netflix is introducing an AI Discover tab designed to replace endless scrolling with mood-based curation. The experimental feature, currently rolling out to English-language users in the U.S., utilizes a new intelligence layer that adapts to viewer preferences in real-time.

The interface presents users with curated themes—ranging from "something light" to "scare me"—that display video clips tailored to specific viewing contexts. If a selection misses the mark, viewers can refine their search or trigger a "something different" option to reset the queue. Each title includes a "Tune Your Recommendations" button, allowing users to actively blacklist unwanted suggestions or save preferences for future sessions. Netflix frames the tab as a "test kitchen" for discovery, utilizing direct user feedback to determine which tools eventually migrate to the platform's primary interface.

Accessible via a red gem icon in the top navigation bar, the update targets users on supported television sets. By shifting away from static lists toward a dynamic, conversational discovery model, the company aims to solve the paradox of choice that often plagues large streaming catalogs. While currently limited to domestic English-language accounts, the company plans to expand access to a broader audience in the coming weeks.
